Not to sound alarmist but this country is fucked. trump just got rid of the last adult in the room and is bringing in the absolute worst person he possibly could to replace him- John Bolton. I knew this shit was coming the night we elected him. He will ruin our economy and most likely bring us to war. So fuck it. I'm going off the grid. I bought a panel truck and I'm turning it into a mobile home, where all I'll need is gasoline and some propane. I imagine getting gasoline will become trickier so I will start collecting cans of Spam and tuna fish that I may use them to barter with. I will not need to hook up to water, electricity or sewer. My new home will be solar powered and I will collect rain water for bathing and brewing my own beer. I will install a composting toilet so my waste will basically be fertilizer. I'll filter my urine so I'll always have dirty filters to get rid of but my waste will be extremely minimal. I moved off my boat and I'm currently parked at my friend's shop while I refit my new home. It will probably take the Summer to get it done 'cause I'll be driving a lot with the ducks and the City will have me busy with the bridges. I've left the senior living facility because there's no way I could do three jobs and finish this project. If you're tied down to a mortgage or rent, this may not be for you. But if you're thinking that this country can no longer offer you long-term security as long as we have a complete fucking moron in the White House, I'll be documenting the process the whole way. It's all about Control. I want to control where and how I live. I made plans for building a houseboat (see Houseboat above) but living on a boat in Seattle is becoming harder and harder. Following will be how I am converting a 17' Uhaul into a home. Cost so far- Truck- $5,000 Registration and insurance- about $700, plus $55/mo Queen size air mattress- $60 Extra blankets and pillows- $80 Water tank- $50 Shower enclosure- $210

Why don’t you buy one already set up? There are so many out there

I’m making a mobile tiny house, not an RV. If there are any prebuilt homes like what I’m doing they would be a lot more than what a can afford.
